Setting Sail in Destin

Destin, located along the Gulf of Mexico, is one of our favorite vacation spots.  Known as the Emerald Coast, the clear water and warm sun makes this location easy to fall in love with. There is no better way to take in that beautiful water than by embarking out on a pontoon from Luther’s Pontoon, Waverunner, and Kayak Rentals.

Luther’s Pontoon, Waverunner, and Kayak Rentals, located in the Destin Harbor for the past 11 years, is a family owned and operated business that offers total fun & enjoyment on the water, especially to Crab Island. Whether you want to fish in the luckiest fishing village’s water, look for dolphins in the Choctawhatchee Bay, or just cruise along the Emerald Coast’s prettiest waters; Luther’s Rentals is sure to be a crowd pleaser. They are a pet friendly establishment, so customers are welcome to bring along their furry family member. Luther’s goal is to make sure your time out on the water is an enjoyable one. To make sure they succeed in this, they provide dockside parking and free valet.  They will even unload all your gear.

They also offer fishing poles, tackle boxes, coolers, an air compressor so they can blow up your floats.  All of their boats have in-board radios with iPod auxiliary plugs.

Life vests for all ages are also provided free of charge.

They offer:

My family enjoyed the day on one of their pontoon boats.  As someone that has NEVER driven a boat before of any kind, I was a little afraid of going out on the Choctawhatchee Bay. My fears were eased as one of the staff members prepped me on all there is to know to operate the boat and where we were allowed to travel.  While preparing me for our voyage other staff members loaded our boat with all our belongings for the day.  We brought along coolers and food as well as our own swimming necessities such as swimming noodles, googles, towels, etc.  Life jackets were provided by Luther’s.  They also provide their contact number for any issues while you are boating.

We set sail along the Emerald Coast’s prettiest waters!  We were absolutely stunned at the beauty of the Choctawhatchee Bay.  Looking at it from the docks or from the beach just does not do it justice.  Being  right in front of those emerald waters was truly breathtaking.

We set out to discover all there was to Crab Island, which is really not an island but an area where you can search for crabs.  The water is shallow and is a great place to snorkel.  Later in the day you will find boats anchored in this area while boaters enjoy the beautiful waters.

We set sail to take a tour of the beautiful homes and boats in the bayous.  We searched for dolphins and even did a little sunbathing.  Although we did not do it on this trip, we noticed that there was a restaurant where you could dock your boat and enjoy some delicious food.

Check out my short video of our trip.

By far Luther’s Pontoon, Waverunners, and Kayak Rentals is one of the best places to rent from in Destin.  They’re knowledgeable  and have a friendly and welcoming staff.  We experienced nothing but the best from them.  I HIGHLY recommend you check them out when you travel to Destin.  You will not be disappointed.  My family can’t wait to get back to rent from them!

We have never been to the Gulf of Mexico as a family, but i can say the waters are very pretty, would love to try the Kayaking here or even the wave runners on the water would be fun, hope to go some day.
