School’s out been out for almost a month now for many of my readers. I do not know about you but sometimes that can bring stress to a parent. As a teacher, I am loving that I do not have to set an alarm clock, and that I am not having to create lesson plans. Actually, I am always hunting for new ideas for the school year so that does not really stop! While I may be enjoying my summer break from the classroom, many parents can become a little stressed out about mid-way through the summer vacation. Are you hearing, “I’m bored!” yet? I have come up with some activities that you can do with your children this summer that will hopefully limit the times you hear that old expression!
First check out your local movie theaters for their matinees or if they offer a discount day. Many theaters will discount the first showing of the day of movies. Two theaters near me, Regal and NCG, offer a $6 movie day. As always, check to see if your local theaters are participating.
There is still time to take advantage of the summer kids movies that theaters nationwide are hosting. Check your local theater to see if they have special movies for kids. These normally cost anywhere from free to just a couple of dollars.
Host a family Movie Night. These can always be fun. Check out my Pinterest board of cool ideas. There are so many great family friendly movies out there that you can set a whole night around!
You know you probably have some old board and card games stashed away in the closet. Take those things out and host a game night. This is sure to provides alot of fun, granted you set the rules first!
There are so many things that you can do outdoors with your kids. Check out your local parks and see what all they have to offer. Plan a hiking trip, explore a local farm, organize a scavenger hunt, camp in your backyard, set up a waterpark, and more. With nature as your backdrop, your possibilities are turly endless!
I really love this post by Family Days Tried and Tested. She created a list of 50 things that you should do with your children before they turn age 11. I know there are so many more wonderful ideas out there. Perhaps you would be willing to share an idea or two with us. Just comment below with some additional fun filled ideas.
