Welcome to 2014
Thank to those of you that have jumped on board and began following me in my new adventure. 2014 has some promising outlook and I am excited about the new possibilities that may be coming. This year my resolution is to simply live each day celebrating what I DO have. Life can been hard with the changes that many of us face. Perhaps life has not dealt you the hand that you had dreamed of. Actually, I am pretty sure that many of us feel this description fits us. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow or know what will happen from hour to hour. Most of us live in the here and now and easily get caught up in what we do not have, need, or want. It generally leaves us feeling hopeless and secretly living through the lives of our friends and family on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
Ever since my oldest son graduated from high school and left the nest to live off campus for a year, the value of family has become even more evident. It dawned on me that I had gotten caught up in the day-to-day mundane and took for granted what I had in front of me: two handsome sons, one amazing nephew, a beautiful niece, wonderful students and parents, a job I love, my parents, a husband, in-laws, a house, a working car, food to eat, places to go, etc… When I realized that life was about cherishing the time I have here on earth with the people I love and doing things that make me/us happy, the less I secretly lived my life through others.
My goal for this year is to simply to be thankful for what I do have. Of course I am like others and have set some goals for myself such as reading certain books this year, losing weight, exercising more, etc… What I feel is different though is this year I am not focusing solely on those goals. I will not beat myself up if I miss a workout or gain a pound or two. Instead, I will wake up each day thankful for being alive and having those people in my life that love and adore me. Wake up being thankful that there is a roof over my head, food in my kitchen, gas in my car, etc… Simply finding something in everyday that is GOOD! We all have good things in our lives. Sometimes we just have to look a little harder for them.
I trust that you will look for the good in your lives from day-to-day.
This year my plan is to blog more and I hope that you will continue on this journey with me. I do have some ideas of some things I will blog about such as places we visited, activities for families, deals for families, keeping children engaged over the summer, losing weight, exercising, and perhaps even some give-aways.
