Fox Theatre Holiday Tours

Holiday Tour at the Fox Theatre

The Fox Theatre is a stunning place in Atlanta.  Not only is it’s architecture beautiful, but the Fox has a rich history in Atlanta and at one point almost ceased to exist!  To add to the excitement of attending my first Nutcracker performance, I was able to take the special holiday tour at the Fox Theatre.  The Fox Theatre offered special tours of the theatre during the holiday season in conjunction with the production of Atlanta Ballet’s Nutcracker.

The tour guide accompanies guests on a behind the scenes look at this famous theatre and by providing groups with an informative glimpse into its rich history.  We were fortunate enough to have the tour guide all to ourselves for this visit.  From the famous Mighty Mo’, the largest working Mollër theatre organ in the world, to the starry-skied auditorium, we learned so much about the fabulous Fox.  My parents even had the opportunity to share with our tour guide the knowledge they had as well.

The Fox was absolutely magical with its many holiday decorations and there are many opportunities to take photos on this tour.  We even had an exclusive meet and greet with cast members from Atlanta Ballet’s Nutcracker and we were lucky enough to have our photo opportunity with master illusionist Drew Thomas and one of the beautiful ballerinas.   Hot cocoa and cookies as well as a parting gift, a stocking full of goodies, concluded this behind the scenes look at the fabulous Fox.

Besides all the splendor and beauty that made me leave this place loving it even more, I will take away one incredible memory.  When we went to have our picture taken with cast members I had mentioned to Drew Thomas that I followed him on Twitter.  I think he was amazed when I said this so he insisted we take a picture together for me to post on Twitter.  Never did I expect what happened next.  Although it may seem small, to me, it was a moment to remember.  Before the intermission, while the show was still going on, Drew Thomas tweeted me back!  I just thought this was the coolest thing ever and so did my parents!  Apparently while he was backstage he checked his messages and saw my post and responded.  Then he was back on stage to end the first act.

I honestly left that place feeling that it was indeed the most fabulous place ever!  I look forward to going back during the regular season to take another behind the scenes look at the this spectacular theatre.
